“Returning Heroes Home” is the campaign name for the new Warrior and Family Support Center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. The planned 12,000-square-foot facility, near Brooke Army Medical Center, will provide a home-like environment in which military service members and their families can heal and reconnect their lives.

An existing 1200-square-foot support center has since 2003 been a significant contributor to the physical and psychological recovery of men and women who have suffered extensive burns, loss of limbs, and head and internal injuries as a result of combat. Established in recognition that families are an essential part of rehabilitation and recovery, the center has provided a safe environment to enhance the healing process and help more than 150,000 individuals, couples and families learn how to cope with combat-related disabilities.

At 10 times the existing center’s size and a proposed cost of $3.589 million, the new Warrior and Family Support Center will include a large social gathering area, private counseling rooms, a learning facility for computer-based and online education, kitchen facilities, a dining room, a game room and more.

From May – September 1, First Command Bank will donate $5 to Returning Heroes Home for each client who signs up for eStatements.
