Security Alert: Heightened Debit Card Security

As part of our commitment to provide our clients with protection against debt card fraud, First Command Bank proactively monitors account transactions for suspicious activity. We have recently identified an increase in fraudulent signature-based debit card transactions at retail merchants throughout the United States.

In order to protect against this type of debit card fraud, we have initiated heightened security procedures for signature-based debit card transactions at retail stores, grocery stores, drug stores and commissaries. In some cases, these procedures may result in your card being rejected at the point of sale. If you attempt to pay with your debit card as "credit" and the transaction is declined, please repeat the transaction as "debit" using your PIN. This will generally allow your transaction to be processed. You may also want to have an alternative form of payment available, such as a credit card, cash or check, should you require it.

First Command Bank does not charge a fee for using your debit card, whether the transaction is pin-based (“debit”) or signature-based (“credit”). All other account terms still apply, see your Depository Agreement for details.

Please be sure to actively monitor your account for any suspicious transactions. If you do see any suspicious transactions, contact First Command Bank immediately by sending a secure message in OnCommand™ with “FRAUD” in the subject line or call us at 888.763.7600.

While we certainly want our customers to enjoy the convenience of our Debit MasterCard®, we have determined these steps are necessary at this time to ensure we are doing all we can to protect against the dangers of fraud and keep your account safe. If you have any questions, please contact Customer Care at 888.763.7600.
